We've survived the first month here in Eugene. I'm not suprised. We're easily adaptable. hahahaha! Not! Okay, well, maybe Nathan is, but I am obviously not. It took me til about a week and a half ago to go more than 5 days without crying. It's okay. You don't have to feel bad for me. I cry all the time at stuff other than being here. Like last night, the Cold Case episode was highly traumatizing to me. I cried for like five minutes! Thank goodness it was dark, Nathan had no idea! Nathan forwarded me this story about a guy with downs that helped write a book about history, it was all I could do not to bawl! I'm kind of a wimp.... Hhmmm...
Well, Nathan got free tickets to the U of O game against Utah State. Cakewalk game if you ask me, but whatever. Anyway, he was so excited to get Emma all "ducked" up in her Oregon onesie. She cried, but dealt with it because Dad was so happy. :-) ... Can I just say that I don't mind walking a little to get to where we're headed, but we walked like 3 miles because we found a free parking spot on the side of the road! That's 6 miles all together. I might be exaggerating by a mile/mile and a half, but we literally parked at least 1-2 miles from the stadium. Not fun in mid 80's sun. PLUS it was cloudy and breezy when we left, so I had jeans on. Nothing like sweating and walking in dark denim. Stupid ducks... ;-) The game was good. We sat near the infestation of wasps apparently, but for those of you who know about my irrational fear, I did quite well. I only looked like I had a nervous twitch rather than flailing about. We were also right in the sun and because it wasn't sunny when we left, we didn't sunscreen Emma. She got a little pink on one arm and now has one arm that is more tan than the other, as do I. Emma did not like the noise. She cried almost every time the stupid horn sounded and the crowd cheered. She eventually fell asleep and then it was the middle of the 3rd quarter, so I took her to nurse. Bless the little lady in the customer service area, she let me come in there and feed her rather than be stuck somewhere out in the sun. By the time Emma was done eating, the 3rd quarter was almost over and they were up 59-10. I told Nathan Emma had had too much sun, so we were waiting in the shaded breezy breezeway til he was ready. We left at the start of the 4th. Good thing too, cuz by the time we got to the car, the game was over and traffic had already begun! See? I told you we parked ridiculously far away. Nathan doesn't like paying for parking, but he had no problem paying $8 for two 20oz bottles of water!
I like football, but I am not a Duck fan. I don't really fit in here, but it's okay. I know my team is better. At the game, they played this clip of their big win against USC last year, and the crowd cheered, I kindly reminded those around me of how their season ended and how SC's season ended. Nathan glared at me. I like that Duck fans talk so much trash, but they can't handle it being dished back sometimes. I still maintain that they are the meanest fans I've met so far. I don't like most of them. Oh well. My team is still ranked #1. lol
Our football season has just begun! College ball is my favorite! I'm so excited for the rest of the season! GO TROJANS!
