So today, Nathan comes home and says, "let's go take a walk, we'll pack sandwiches and have a picnic". I say. "okay!" I did not know this was like a marathon hike! Holy cow that walk was a beast! Like I needed even more of a reminder that I'm fat and out of shape! There were people walking sporatically by us coming back from wherever the beastly trail ended all smiley and happy, as if they knew that I was truly in hell. And really, I understand that there are plenty of trails in this world that are uphill, but who thought of this? As if everyone wants to take a scenic walk uphill both ways! This was not the afternoon walk I'd thought we were having. I wouldn't have minded much, but I'm sore from volleyball, so adding to the soreness was not my intention. I've been trying to ease back into working out so that I'm not dealing with all the soreness that comes from the beginning of a workout regiment (is that even the right word?), but obviously am not doing a great job. The nice thing is that some friends of mine and I are going to start working out in the mornings before Nathan leaves for work, so I can get a workout in a few days a week. That'll be nice...

Anyway, so back to this trail. I felt like I was in the woods in the Wizard of Oz, like the trees were going to start hitting me and a cowardly lion was going to jump out. No animal sightings though, unless a dog walking with its owner counts, but I dont' think it does. Emma enjoyed the walk. I'm sure because she's excited to just be out of the house and not at Target. ;-) It was a good walk, I just wish I'd been more prepared. Looks like I'll be doing some harder workouts in the coming days!

The pictures of us are from the end of the hike. Can't you tell by our faces we're just glad to be done?! hahaha! Nathan was huffing and puffing too and don't let him tell you otherwise, he's just as much out of shape as I am. But he's less sore since he's not playing any sports right now. He'll probably feel it in the morning though. ;-)
